Palletizing

Automotive Manufacturing: How Nebula Robotics is Pioneering the Way

The deployment of cobots had a significant impact on L'Oréal's production efficiency and employee well-being.

Challenge:
L'Oréal faced a common challenge in the industry: the need to optimize palletizing processes and improve work ergonomics for their employees. Manual palletizing can be monotonous, repetitive, and physically demanding, leading to the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and labor shortages. To address these issues, L'Oréal wanted to automate the palletizing process with a flexible robot that could handle different product sizes, shapes, and weights, and work collaboratively with human operators.

Solution:
That's where Nebula came in and demonstrated the capabilities of cobots, showing how they could perform the palletizing task while being easy to program, operate, and re-deploy. After comprehensive testing and analysis, L'Oréal decided to cobots, each with a reach of 1300 mm and a payload of 10 kg, to automate the palletizing of their products. They also used a vacuum gripper to pick and place the products on pallets according to a predefined pattern. The implementation of the first cobot took about two weeks, and the basic training for the automation team of L'Oréal related to programming of robots was given by our team.

Results:
The deployment of cobots had a significant impact on L'Oréal's production efficiency and employee well-being. With the palletizing process now entirely automated by the cobots, the operators were freed from the most strenuous tasks, such as bending over to place boxes on lower layers of the pallet. Instead, they could focus on higher value-added tasks, such as quality control and maintenance. The cobots also improved the work ergonomics and safety, reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and increasing the satisfaction and motivation of the employees. Moreover, the cobots proved to be very efficient, palletizing around 1100 boxes during an eight-hour shift, and delivering a return on investment estimated to be around 12 months. Conclusion:At Nebula Robots, we are proud to be a trusted partner of L'Oréal and to provide them with innovative and collaborative solutions that help them achieve their production goals and improve the quality of life at work. Our cobots are designed to be easy to use, flexible, and safe, and to empower human-robot collaboration in a variety of industries and applications. If you are looking for a reliable and cost-effective way to optimize your palletizing process and work ergonomics, why not try a cobot? You may be surprised at how much you can achieve with our cobots, and how much you can enjoy working with them. Thank you for reading, and stay collaborative!
